Do You Need Help With Your Finances?

If you’re questioning whether you have too much debt, that’s probably the best sign that you do and it’s time to discuss your options with a debt professional. Some other signs that you might need financial help include:

  • You can only afford to make your minimum payments each month
  • You sometimes miss your monthly minimum payments
  • You’re relying on one form of credit to pay down another form of credit
  • Creditors are harassing you with collection calls
  • You’re feeling stressed about your finances and maybe even losing sleep

If you have unmanageable debt, your first step should be to meet with a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT).

How to Prepare for Your Consultation

Total Up Your Debt

Take a deep breath, and add up all the debts you’re owing. Obtaining a copy of your free credit report will also help ensure you’re aware of all outstanding debts you’re owing.

If you have them on hand, it’s very helpful to bring copies of your creditor statements and loan balances. This will help to provide your debt advisor with an accurate snapshot of your financial situation.

Know Your Monthly Income

In order to provide you with the best solution for your unique situation, it’s important aht you understand the total income you are bring in each month.

We recommend that you bring a recent pay stub, income and/or investment statements, and if it’s available, your most recent tax return, and investment statement so we can understand your full financial picture.
