November is Financial Literacy Month

This November, Canada marks the 14th annual Financial Literacy Month, led by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC). This campaign aligns with the goals of the National Financial Literacy Strategy 2021-2026, aiming to improve Canadians’ financial literacy and resilience. Throughout the month, FCAC partners with organizations across various sectors to empower Canadians to take control of their financial well-being.
This Year’s Theme: “Money on Your Mind. Talk About It!”
For many Canadians, money remains a sensitive subject, often avoided in conversations with family and friends. Many feel embarrassment or fear of judgment when discussing financial topics, especially personal debt. However, research shows that open conversations about money can increase financial confidence, particularly among women, and lead to better financial outcomes.
This November, FCAC’s “Money on Your Mind. Talk about it!” campaign encourages Canadians to break the stigma and share their financial experiences. FCAC is inviting everyone to take one proactive step to boost their financial confidence, like checking their credit score, discussing budgeting with a friend, or seeking advice from a financial professional.
Join the conversation on social media and raise awareness about the importance of financial literacy using the hashtags #MoneyOnYourMind and #FLM2024. Let’s all play a role in normalizing conversations about money in Canada.
Don’t miss the Financial Literacy Month launch event on Monday, November 4th, at 1:15 PM ET!
